Silicon Manganese Alloy
Silicon manganese is a metallurgical addition combining Si and Mn for deoxidation and alloying in steels.
Description
It is widely used to reach target silicon and manganese levels and to support deoxidation at tapping or in ladle treatments. Grade and particle size are selected according to the steel specification and process route.
Applications
- Alloying in carbon and low-alloy steels
- Deoxidizer during tapping and ladle metallurgy
- Composition adjustments in foundry irons (practice-dependent)
Packaging
- Bagged or palletized with labels for product and batch
- Protect from moisture and mechanical impact
- Follow safe handling procedures for additions
Storage
- Store in a dry, covered warehouse
- Keep packaging sealed when not in use
- Apply FIFO to maintain chemistry consistency
