Silicon Carbide 98%

From Harbour Refractory — reference entry

Silicon carbide 98% is a high-purity SiC material used for refractories, abrasives, and metallurgical applications where hardness and chemical stability are required.

Description

Produced through the Acheson process, silicon carbide combines high hardness, excellent thermal conductivity, and resistance to oxidation at moderate temperatures. In refractories it improves thermal shock resistance and strength; in metallurgical use it serves as a carburizer or deoxidizer depending on grade and particle size.

Applications

  • High-temperature refractories, castables, and kiln furniture
  • Abrasive grains and blasting media
  • Metallurgical additive and carburizer for iron and steel
  • Raw material in advanced ceramics and composites

Packaging

  • Supplied in bags or drums on wooden pallets
  • Each package labeled with product name and batch identification
  • Handle to prevent contamination and moisture ingress

Storage

  • Store in a dry and ventilated warehouse
  • Keep packaging sealed when not in use
  • Follow FIFO inventory rotation for consistency
