Silica Brick

From Harbour Refractory — reference entry

Silica brick is a high-SiO₂ refractory used in selected furnace zones, noted for high-temperature dimensional stability under appropriate conditions.

Description

Manufactured from silica-rich raw materials with controlled firing, silica brick is commonly applied in coke ovens and glass furnace superstructures. Grade, shape, and installation follow lining design and service requirements.

Applications

  • Coke oven walls and roofs (design-specific)
  • Glass furnace crowns and superstructures
  • Other structures designed for silica refractory behavior

Packaging

  • Palletized with protective wrapping and corner protection
  • Labels for product name, size, and batch identification
  • Handle to avoid edge chipping and impact damage

Storage

  • Store dry and covered to limit moisture uptake
  • Stack on flat wooden supports; avoid overloading
  • Keep packaged until installation; use FIFO
