Magnesite
Magnesite (MgCO3) is a source mineral for producing magnesia (MgO) used in basic refractories and other industries.
Description
After calcination, magnesite yields caustic or dead-burned magnesia grades with differing reactivity and density. Grading and chemistry are selected according to the intended refractory or chemical application.
Applications
- Feedstock for MgO aggregates in basic refractories
- Chemical and agricultural uses depending on grade
- Magnesia-based mortars and castables
Packaging
- Bagged or bulk on pallets with product and batch labels
- Protect from moisture and contamination
- Avoid excessive impact during handling and transport
Storage
- Store in a dry, covered area away from moisture
- Keep packaging sealed when not in use
- FIFO for multiple lots to maintain uniformity
