Explosion-Proof Fiber

From Harbour Refractory — reference entry

Explosion-proof fiber is an additive used to release vapor pressure during initial heating of refractory or concrete linings.

Description

Short organic or mineral fibers disperse throughout the mix and soften or volatilize upon heating, creating microchannels for vapor escape and reducing spalling risk during dry-out or start-up.

Applications

  • Additive in refractory castables and shotcrete to mitigate explosive spalling
  • Concrete linings requiring controlled vapor venting
  • Dry-out processes for thick or dense monolithics

Packaging

  • Plastic bags or cartons on pallets
  • Keep product dry and avoid mechanical compression
  • Labeling includes product identification and lot number

Storage

  • Store in a cool, dry, ventilated place
  • Avoid direct sunlight and moisture
  • Use FIFO to ensure consistent quality
