Expandable Graphite (High Purity)
Expandable graphite is a modified graphite that expands upon heating to form a vermicular structure used for fire protection and sealing functions.
Description
Intercalation treatment enables expansion at temperature, generating a low-density, porous char. Grades differ by expansion ratio, particle size, and ash content for use in flame-retardant systems, gaskets, and insulating layers.
Applications
- Flame-retardant additive in polymer systems
- Gaskets and sealing materials
- Intumescent layers in fire protection systems
Packaging
- Sealed bags or drums on pallets with batch identification
- Protect from moisture and contamination
- Handle to minimize dust release
Storage
- Store dry and ventilated; keep sealed when not in use
- Avoid prolonged humidity to maintain expansion behavior
- Use FIFO for lot consistency
