Ceramic Fiber Board

From Harbour Refractory — reference entry

Ceramic fiber board is a rigid thermal insulation material made from alumino-silicate fibers and binders, designed for service at elevated temperatures with low thermal conductivity.

Description

Manufactured by vacuum forming and drying fiber slurries, the boards offer good mechanical strength at low density. They are used as hot-face linings, backup insulation, or expansion joint materials. Selection considers thickness, density, and temperature rating according to design requirements.

Applications

  • Hot-face insulation in industrial furnaces and kilns
  • Backup insulation behind dense refractory linings
  • Gaskets, expansion joints, and heat shields

Packaging

  • Supplied on pallets with protective wrapping
  • Boards stacked with corner and edge protection
  • Labeling indicates product grade, size, and batch number

Storage

  • Store flat on level supports under cover
  • Avoid prolonged humidity or water exposure
  • Keep packaged until installation; handle carefully to avoid edge breakage
