Calcined Petroleum Coke

From Harbour Refractory — reference entry

Calcined petroleum coke (CPC) is obtained by heating green petroleum coke to reduce volatiles and develop carbon structure for metallurgical and industrial use.

Description

Process parameters influence density and volatile content. CPC is used as a carburizer in foundries and as a carbon source in electrodes and refractory systems according to grade and practice.

Applications

  • Carburizer in iron and steel foundries (grade-dependent)
  • Carbon source for electrodes and other carbon products
  • Additive in refractory and metallurgical formulations

Packaging

  • Bags or jumbo bags on pallets with batch labels
  • Protect from moisture ingress and tearing
  • Handle to minimize dust generation

Storage

  • Store in a dry, ventilated warehouse away from water
  • Keep packaging sealed when not in use
  • Apply FIFO for consistent performance
