Autoclaved Aerated Concrete Block

From Harbour Refractory — reference entry

Autoclaved aerated concrete (AAC) block is a lightweight construction material made by aerating and autoclaving a cement–lime–silica mixture.

Description

The internal pore structure lowers bulk density and improves thermal insulation compared with dense masonry. Blocks are selected by size, density class, and compressive strength according to design.

Applications

  • Non-load-bearing and load-bearing wall systems per specification
  • Thermal insulation partitions and enclosures
  • Retrofit or infill where reduced structural weight is beneficial

Packaging

  • Palletized with shrink wrap or banding
  • Each bundle labeled for product identification and batch tracking
  • Handle with care to prevent edge damage

Storage

  • Store under cover on level supports to avoid moisture uptake
  • Keep packages intact until use
  • Follow site guidelines for stacking height and stability
