Andalusite
Andalusite is an alumino-silicate mineral used as a refractory raw material that can transform to mullite upon heating.
Description
Graded concentrates are used in shaped and monolithic refractories. Selection considers chemistry, particle size distribution, and intended thermal shock performance.
Applications
- Aggregates for low-cement castables and bricks
- Thermal-shock-resistant mixes
- Mineral addition to adjust mullite formation in-service
Packaging
- Bagged or bulk on pallets with product and batch labels
- Protect from contamination during handling
- Avoid excessive impact loads
Storage
- Store in a dry, covered area away from moisture
- Keep packages sealed when not in use
- Apply FIFO management for consistency
