Alumina Magnesia Carbon Brick

From Harbour Refractory — reference entry

Alumina–magnesia–carbon (AMC) brick combines alumina aggregates, magnesia sources, and carbon for service in basic slag environments and thermal cycling zones.

Description

Carbon components help limit wetting and slag penetration, while alumina and magnesia may form spinel in service. Selection of grade and dimensions follows lining design and expected operating conditions.

Applications

  • Steelmaking ladle impact and slag-line areas
  • Converter and secondary metallurgy vessels
  • Thermal zones requiring basic chemistry and shock tolerance

Packaging

  • Palletized with protective wrapping and corner protection
  • Labels for product name, size, and batch identification
  • Handle to avoid edge chipping during loading and transport

Storage

  • Store in a dry warehouse; avoid moisture pickup for carbon-containing products
  • Keep packaging intact and off the ground with wooden supports
  • Avoid prolonged humidity before installation
